Dr. Shaleen Das leads Guardians of Human Rights’ activities across South Asia and the Persian Gulf, serving as a central force behind the organization’s regional strategy and program implementation. Based primarily in India, she oversees human rights initiatives carried out in collaboration with universities and colleges, including programs at institutions such as Kolkata University and Bawanipur College, where academic engagement, leadership development, and rights-based education intersect.
Beyond India, Dr. Das coordinates and organizes initiatives in Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka, and Qatar, ensuring a cohesive regional approach that adapts global human rights frameworks to diverse cultural and institutional contexts. Her work bridges academia, civil society, and policy-oriented dialogue, expanding the reach and impact of Guardians of Human Rights across multiple countries.

Her leadership focuses on gender justice and women’s rights, youth empowerment and leadership, and human rights education and advocacy, with a strong emphasis on policy dialogue aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through this integrated approach, Dr. Das strengthens institutional capacity, empowers women and young leaders, and promotes sustainable, rights-based solutions at both the community and regional levels.

Through her work, Guardians of Human Rights has been able to expand its presence, deepen academic partnerships, and advance human rights initiatives that reflect both local realities and global commitments.
